About
Meet Euan Blackman
Euan Blackman is an experienced educator — and the only teacher on the RISD Board of Trustees District 3 ballot who is still in the classroom today.
Proven Results in the Classroom
For 23 years, Euan has taught physics, chemistry, and biology in public schools, reaching more than 3,500 students. This includes teaching physics at RISD’s Berkner High School, where his students consistently outperform averages — posting a 94%+ passing rate on state science exams for four straight years in a diverse Title I setting.
A Decade of Service to RISD
Euan has volunteered on RISD committees for nearly a decade — the Bond Steering Committee, Community Budget Steering Committee, Equity Council, and School Health Advisory Council (SHAC). On the Community Budget Steering Committee, he helped build the new teacher pay plan that cut RISD teacher turnover from 17.4% to 11.5%.
From the Private Sector to the Public Classroom
Born in South Africa, Euan immigrated to the United States seeking greater opportunity. He spent 12 years managing multimillion-dollar budgets at AT&T and CompUSA before following his calling into teaching. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from UT Dallas, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
Rooted in Richardson
Euan and his wife Laura — also a teacher — live in Richardson and are the proud parents of Parker, a J.J. Pearce High School alumnus. As President of the Richland Park Neighborhood Association, Euan works to strengthen southeast Richardson communities. Together, he and Laura understand the challenges and joys of public education from the inside.
